SAMMLUNGSZENTRUM, SCHWEIZ
ZÜRICH, AFFOLTERN AM ALBIS

A proposal for the extention of the Sammlungszentrum SNM in Affoltern in Albis, a depot of art objects and artifacts belonging to the National Art Museum in Zürich, with facilities for restoration of art objects and preparation of exhibitions.

The two extensions form organic natural prolongations of the existing volumes and geometry, integrating themselves into the landscape.  The building is conceived as energy passive, the double facade out of a layer of colored acryl-glass elements contributing to the tempered and self-sustaining climate in the building, with fields of solar collectors located on the roof and at the south facade of the buildings.
